The Bloomington-Normal area is a vibrant community providing its residents with a wide variety of amenities. Normal is home to Illinois State University, and Bloomington is the home of Illinois Wesleyan University. Outdoor recreation and boating is available at two city-owned lakes and a state park, all within 20 minutes of the city limits. There are a number of sports facilities, cultural and arts centers, golf courses and shopping centers.
